Disappointing Experience. I spent an evening out at Abba in Orleans for dinner last night, and sadly left feeling unfulfilled and as though I had paid way too much for the experience. Four of us were there, excited to try out the restaurant after hearing so many positive things about the space and the food, and while the room was pleasant and I enjoyed the comfortable bench seating, none of us were impressed with the service or any part of our meals. Our server was wholly unhelpful when it came to decisions about meal choices and wine list, and seemed eager to spend only as much time at our table as it took her to write down our choices. Out of our 4 appetizers, the shucked oysters were the most enjoyable; the falafel was dry and lacked flavor, and the scallops tasted of a gas grill with mushy eggplant. Of the entrees, the pad thai was the best tasting, but a lot to pay for one lobster tail cut in half and some sauteed shrimp. We also had the Duck which came out overcooked with cauliflower potato puree that tasted more like cauliflower grits and an over powerful ginger soy sauce. The Salmon was cooked nicely but i felt that the garnish on the plate was an afterthought and deserved more attention and the scallop entree we had was uneventful the gnocchi we dense nuggets of potato not the usual fluffy pillowy gnocchi im accustomed to. The scallops were also overcooked and everything tasted of soy due to the liberal amounts they use in this dish. All in all i would not recommend this restaurant for a meal but maybe as a place to have a cocktail and some small appetizers.…
