Do NOT go here! The Host is a Jerk.

I have never experienced anything like the Port Restaurant and I hope to never again. I did a search online for the Best Seafood in Cape Cod, and the Port came up. I called ahead and the person on the phone said reservations are only taken for parties of 6 or more, and since I have 4 in my party, I will only wait 10 minutes. It took my friends and I an hour to drive from Truro to Harwich to experience "the best." When I walked in, I told the host 4 people, and he laughed at me and said, "Sorry, we have a two hour waiting list." I told him how I just called an hour ago and was told it would take 10 minutes. He laughed like a snoody idiot, he was rude, and to top it off the restaurant was half empty. At least over 20 tables were empty. I seek out fine dining every where I go, and this is the first time I ever encountered an experience like this. Completely awful and disgusting.

Terrible service and poor experience

I have been going to the Cape for years and have never met a host/manager who treated patrons of their restaurant so poorly and unprofessionally as when recently at the Port.

As with other reviews, there was a mix-up with our parties size as one person in our group at the last minute could not make our reservation. Upon telling the manager/host this, he responded unapologetically that we now had an hour and 45 minute wait and could have a drink at the bar and wait or leave. We explained quite reasonably that there was obviously a table waiting for us to which he responded that there in fact was but we could not have it with a large grin on his face almost challenging us to confront him. He then ignored our party and gave away our table to a group the same size!

Never once did the manager / host offer any apologies and were the rudest, most unprofessional people I have ever met. While the Port might currently be able to get away with horrible service, it will eventually catch-up with this restaurant as more people realize their poor level of client service and satisfaction.

I regret that I can not comment on the food and value at the Port because we were so disgusted with our experience that we decided not to eat there! I never wish our experience on any other person and hence am recommending never wasting your time and money on such an awful establishment.

Horrible Hostess Customer Service

I was visiting the Cape on a girl?s weekend and we made reservations at The Port because we had dinner there last year and really enjoyed our visit. This year, the food was still fabulous, but I will not say that about the hostess staff or 'manager' as she liked to call herself. Our reservations were for 7:30, and we were immediately seated at the soul bar table in the restaurant. There was a LARGE TV hanging over our heads and because of the noise, even that early in the evening, we asked to be moved. We got attitude immediately, and were told that we could wait another hour / hour 1/2 or leave....yup - we were told we could leave. We asked that in the very least the TV was turned off, and that was just not possible (please note that they had no 'game' on, it was just updates). Though the food was great, the rudeness of the hostess staff was HORRIBLE and I will not be coming back. The five of us easily spent $350 on a meal, and I won't go back to have a horrible experience like that again. My suggestion is to take your business else where too!!

• Pros: Food was excellent and the waitress did a good job
• Cons: Non-accommodating and tried to make the bar extra space....even when we had a reservation!

New York Bistro in Old Cape Cod

Immediate impression - immaculate.

Departing impression - coming back again and again!

Elegant, friendly, chic - and to top it all, delicious and well conceived dishes.

Try the Goat Cheese and Mango Salad or the Baked Brie and Figs to start.

Entrees are all superb. Filet Mignon exceptional. And plan on sharing the Bananas Fosters if you intend having a dessert!

Wonderful atmosphere and decor - lovely, caring management, hostess and staff.

A "must visit" restaurant of the highest quality.
