In Short – If you're on the cape and want to get to the islands, it's much easier to go from Hyannis than travel down to Woods Hole. It takes about one hour and 45 minutes to get to Martha's Vineyard, and two hours to Nantucket. From September through May, there are fewer daily sailings than in the high summer season. Hy-Line also operates a high-speed, passenger-only ferry year-round that takes about an hour. Advanced booking is required.
