Saved vacation.
I highly recommend Nickerson Service.
Three days into our vacation, our only vehicle began to run rough and the "check engine" light came on. We found Nickerson Service online and it was also recommended by a local.
The service manager, Paul, did a preliminary diagnosis over the phone. We took the van right in and he hooked it into a diagnostic system which confirmed his initial hunch. He explained the problem (misfiring cylinder), the solution and his word he would try to fix it within a day or two.
I also talked with my mechanic from home. He confirmed a misfiring cylinder was likely the problem and they would charge about $450 to replace it.
Paul and his staff were able to fix the van by the end of the day. The cost was $150 less than my mechanic at home would have charged.
With Nickerson, we avoided renting a car ($60+ a day) and having a damper cast a pall on our vacation. Instead, we got an outstanding experience.
Paul was friendly and talkative, making us feel more like locals than tourists. We actually saved money by having the repair done here rather than at home!…
Nickerson's Rocks.
Since living in Provincetown here on the Cape I've had to deal with a few so called Mechanics and "Service Stations". These people are the most honest and friendly I have had to deal with. The
mechanics in Provincetown in my opinion are not honest nor fairly priced. I take my cars to shopsthat requires them to be on lifts or extremely complicated jobs such as transmission work. Driving a half hour to Nickersons is fine. I would drive 2 hours to take my car in.
I went to Nickersons first for the Mass State inspection. Instantly I was impressed with the people behind the desk and the woman that answers the phone. Wanting to sell my other car so someone else could enjoy it (late model convertable) I decided to take it into Nickersons for a water pump replacement. Let me say this...EVERYONE there was so friendly once again. The energy there was amazing. One could tell that they are honest people buy the look in their eyes, the way they speak and the smiles on all the employees faces. Far different than local Provincetown shops where they look drained, dishonest and shady. Not to mention 'hung over" from the night before.
